In honor of their newest film “Moonrise Kingdom”, Bill Murray and Kara Hayward pose for pictures in a space-age setting for the June 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
In the issue, director Wes Anderson explains his universe and the story behind his film, which follows “two 12-year-old kids in the 1960s—a solitary daughter and an orphaned Boy Scout—who fall in love and run away together.”
"This girl doesn't want to be in her own family, and this boy doesn't have one at all," Anderson explains. "When you're that age falling in love takes over your whole life."
In the magazine’s director series, the “Royal Tenenbaums” creator went on to explain his love for film’s and the secrets behind his success. Highlights from the column are as follows, with more available at Harper’s Bazaar!
On his movie life partner, Owen Wilson:
"I always show Owen the script. We went to school together, so that's what goes back the furthest. He has been the main, central collaboration for my whole body of work."
On Tilda Swinton, who contributed to his newest film:
“[She] is someone I've been wanting to work with for ages. Tilda and Bill already knew each other, and Tilda knows our good friend [actor and jewelry designer] Waris Ahluwalia.... "
