Barbara Streisand Remembers Marvin Hamlisch at 85th Academy Awards

Each year since 1994 the Academy Awards has included an “In Memoriam” segment, and earlier tonight (February 24) Barbra Streisand gave a very special performance to pay tribute to one of the entertainment industry’s finest composers.

Singing “The Way We Were,” the title track from her 1973 film, Babs honored the memory of composer Marvin Hamlisch, who won Oscars for Best Original Song and Best Original Score that year.

And along with Mr. Hamlisch, the Academy Awards’ “In Memoriam” clip also looked at several other notable Tinseltown figures we’ve lost over the past year.

Among them were Jack Klugman, Richard Zanuck, Charles Durning, Frank Pierson, Ernest Borgnine, Nora Ephron, and Tony Scott.
