Justin Bieber, 'Watch Your Back': Carly Rae Jepsen Loves Pranks Too!

'I'm going to give him a run for his money,' Bieber protégé tells MTV News of recent 'Punk'd' mastermind.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway

"Punk'd" kicked off in a big way Thursday night. Justin Bieber was enlisted to host the premiere episode of the new season, and he didn't shy away from pulling fast ones on his A-list friends.

Bieber made Taylor Swift believe she ruined a wedding, leaving her in tears. And when he pranked MTV's own Rob Dyrdek, he caught on and ended up joining forces with the Biebs to get Sean Kingston instead; the stunned singer stood up for an angry assistant who drove her boss' car into a restaurant. Bieber also double-crossed Miley Cyrus, who thought she was pranking him, but he ended up fighting the kids she sent out to poke fun of him. She definitely wasn't expecting that and ended up pretty shocked by the reverse prank.

Bieber is a known prankster in real life, and his pal and label signee Carly Rae Jepsen opened up to MTV News about his punker side — and proudly said she's ready to take him on anytime.

"I haven't seen that side of him myself yet, but I heard he's a bit of a prankster, which is good. I like that," she told MTV News. "I'm going to give him a run for his money. I enjoy a prank or two myself. It's on! Watch your back!"

Cyrus will be back for more "Punk'd" fun later this season, when she hosts her own episode. She'll punk beau Liam Hemsworth and pal Khloé Kardashian. Demi Lovato, the Wanted and more will also get "Punk'd" later this season.

Don't miss "Punk'd" every Thursday at 10 p.m. on MTV. For continuing "Punk'd" coverage, be sure to check in with MTV's Remote Control blog.

'Twins' May Find Long-Lost Triplet In Eddie Murphy

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito may reunite for 'Triplets,' the sequel to the 1988 comedy 'Twins.'
By Gil Kaufman

Eddie Murphy
Photo: Getty Images

Some old movie franchises never die, they just go into the deep freeze for, oh, almost a quarter century. Case in point: "Twins." Surely you remember the hit high-concept 1988 comedy starring then-huge actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his half-sized "brother" Danny DeVito? The goofball premise had the two stumbling through wacky adventures, with the, ahem, intellectual, physically perfect Julius (Arnold) struggling to connect with his long-lost small-time crook fraternal twin bro Vincent (DeVito) after the pair were separated at birth.

Bottom line: The movie grossed more than $200 million worldwide, and now, Universal Pictures is hoping to reboot the franchise nearly 25 years later. There is, of course, a new twist: Not only would the former California governor and the "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" star be reprising their roles, but they would find out that the mad scientists who created them also cooked up a third brother.

Cue "Triplets," with third comedic wheel Eddie Murphy. The Hollywood Reporter said no director is connected to the flick yet, but noted that original director Ivan Reitman, would be onboard as a producer through his Montecito Picture Co. banner. The backers are still looking for writers to work up a script, and while the actors are reportedly attached to star, the studios have not yet sat down to discuss the creative aspect of the project.

The film could be a boon for Murphy, who is coming off yet another box-office bomb with the long-delayed "A Thousand Words," while Schwarzenegger is still attempting to revive his acting career after two terms as California governor and a nasty split from his wife, Maria Shriver. DeVito has continued to appear in mostly under-the-radar films for the past five to six years, but has a solid hit on his hands at the moment as the voice of "The Lorax."

'Mirror Mirror': The Reviews Are In!

Critics agree the Snow White adaptation is 'not the fairest of them all.'
By Fallon Prinzivalli

Lily Collins in "Mirror, Mirror"
Photo: Relativity Media

Before it even hit the box office, "Mirror Mirror" was viewed with a critical eye as two Snow White adaptations had announced their release dates a month apart. But with the release of the trailers, it was clear that the two movies were very different. The Tarsem Singh film is a quirky comedy from the vantage point of the Evil Queen (Julia Roberts) over the traditional Snow White (Lily Collins), while "Snow White and the Huntsman" is about the epic battle Snow White (Kristen Stewart) must fight for her life. Unfortunately for those involved in the former, as the reviews pour in, it's obvious the movie is making critics grumpy.

The Story
" 'Mirror Mirror' begins with an impressively animated recap of Snow White's predicament: Banished to her castle by a wicked stepmother after her father the king disappears, and being played by such a vacantly pretty ingenue as Lily Collins. Collins conveys a properly Audrey Hepburn princess look and the acting range of a runway model. The damsel's role is always distressed. The queen has run the kingdom into the ground, funding a lavish lifestyle with escalating taxes. After sneaking out for a tour of the squalor, Snow sides with the other 99 percent. Their relationship is further strained with the arrival of handsome Prince Alcott." — Steve Persall, Tampa Bay Times

The Laughs
" 'Mirror Mirror' is unfair to people expecting more than a few good laughs. Scenes proceed lethargically, with pauses after punch lines where Tarsem must hope for audience laughter. Anachronistic gags (as when the Prince tells Snow White that he has to be the hero because 'it's been focus-grouped — it works') break whatever luscious spell the art direction and costumery might create. On their first meeting in the woods, the Prince tells the dwarfs, 'You're short, and it's funny.' Well, the film is shortish (106 mins.) but it's also epically unfunny. The producers should have handed the script to an actual clever person like Paul Rudnick ('In & Out,' 'Jeffrey') and told him to send it back in a week, with solid jokes and a buoyant spirit." — Richard Corliss, Time

Julia Roberts
"Roberts has had exactly one high point ('Duplicity') since winning her Oscar in 2000, and she acts here as if simply appearing in a floofy dress is high hilarity. Her 'playfulness' seems like work and her cartoony maliciousness is dull. (Charlize Theron, who plays the queen in this summer's more serious 'Snow White and the Huntsman,' needn't fret.)" — Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News

The Visuals
"Singh, whose eye-popping tribute to the Silent Era, 'The Fall,' was several years ahead of 'The Artist'/'Hugo' curve, never lets his attention waver from the production design — those beautiful, snowy, birch tree forests; the parapets; cliffs; and opulent palace digs. He lets his stars deliver their lines — some with more flourish and wit than others (among the dwarfs, Jordan Prentice and Danny Woodburn get off the best) — but his eye is mostly on the gilt and the silk, the CG-ed skies, and the eerie, iced-over lake that separates the castle from the town." — Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer

The Final Word
"The whole thing lacks tonal cohesion, lurching from Tim Burton-style comic grotesquerie to underpowered action set pieces to a gratuitously self-referential Bollywood production number on the end credits. The impression is that of a director constantly fighting to put his stamp on material that's foreign to him, and unable to figure out what that stamp should be." — David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter

"Not the fairest of them all." — Matt Stevens, E! Online

'Game Of Thrones' Season Two: The Reviews Are In!

Critics are raving about new season, with one reviewer describing HBO fantasy series as 'spiritual heir' to 'The Sopranos.'
By Josh Wigler

Carice Van Houten as Melisandre in "Game of Thrones"
Photo: HBO

Winter is behind us in real life, but in the brutal realm of Westeros, it's just days away.

When "Game of Thrones" returns Sunday for its second season, the days of Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell will be behind us, with the reign of Tyrion Lannister (and another Emmy-worthy performance from Peter Dinklage) in our future. Based on the second novel in George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, "A Clash of Kings," season two of "Thrones" promises even more political intrigue, warfare, sex and violence than ever before — and given the show in question, that's certainly saying something!

Several critics have already seen the first episode of the new season of "Thrones," and with very few exceptions, their reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Here's a taste of the reviews:

The Story "It's a pleasure to see that 'Game of Thrones' hasn't lost a grip on its ability to tell a vast, interconnected story without slowing down the pace. What's truly impressive is that as life is breathed into these storylines, 'Game of Thrones' just gets better and more fulfilling as a top-tier television series. The intrigue of the plot and the keenly drawn characters — plus the sense instilled in Season 1 that absolutely anything can happen and no one is safe — makes the show all the more compelling." — Tim Goodman, The Hollywood Reporter

Accessibility for Non-Readers "I had read the first volume of George R.R. Martin's saga 'A Song of Ice and Fire' (the source material for this series) before I watched the first season of 'GoT' so I would be familiar with the vast array of characters and plots that would develop. But I intentionally did not read the epic's second volume, 'A Clash of Kings,' before watching the start of 'GoT' season 2, because I wanted to see if I'd have trouble following the new intricacies. And I'm here to report that my lack of homework in no way prevented me from becoming enthralled with this series all over again. That's a testament to what adapters David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have accomplished in whittling down and reshaping Martin's novels for weekly TV. It's difficult enough to hook a viewer like me, who resists sprawling, noncontemporary narratives; it's another level of pop culture wizardry to make such storytelling seem so vivid, so vital, and just plain fun." — Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly

Blood and Boobs " 'Thrones' creates such a rich visual feast — replete with plenty of gratuitous nudity and blood-letting — as to almost obscure its fundamental storytelling pleasures, which are as much a mob drama as anything else, having traded bullets for broadswords. By that measure, this really might [be] the closest spiritual heir to 'The Sopranos' HBO has delivered since the show's notorious whiteout." — Brian Lowry, Variety

The New Guys in Town "Even though I'm a fan of Martin's novels, I must confess that I always found the Stannis retainer Davos Seaworth fairly bland and boring, but Liam Cunningham, like Emilia Clarke, ably brings to life a character who could seem rather remote on the page. Several other smaller roles have been filled with lively specificity, but I have to wonder if we'll get enough time with each of these people. Will the plight of Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), a stoic warrior who nurtures an unrequited love for royal contender Renly Baratheon, be as sadly evocative as it was in the books? Will there be time for the show to do more than lightly sketch the dilemmas of minor but interesting characters like her?" — Maureen Ryan, Huffington Post

The Bottom Line "As with the novels, this 'Game of Thrones' is breathtakingly ambitious, an ever-unfurling tapestry that threatens, at times, to overwhelm its frame. That it does not is a testament to the power of piecework — art is not defined by the space it occupies but by its details, the truth it captures. Many heads bend over this adaptation, each belonging to a master of his or her craft, and what emerges is a truly new, and miraculously accurate, definition of epic television." — Mary McNamara, Los Angeles Times

Kids' Choice Awards 2012: 5 Things We're Dying To See

Katy Perry and One Direction's performances, Will Smith's hosting skills and more have us pumped for Saturday night.
By Kara Warner

This year's Kids' Choice Awards are going to be as action-packed as ever, with Will Smith as host, two killer performers lined up and a slew of celebrities expected to be in attendance.

Here are the five things we're looking forward to during the live show at 8 p.m. Saturday:

Katy Perry's Performance
Perry is not only one of this year's top nominees, but the "Teenage Dream" singer will also take the stage at USC's Galen Center to present and perform. So what song will she sing? What will she wear? Will her hair still be blue? One of Perry's biggest hits, "Firework," is up for Favorite Song. She is also nominated for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Voice in an Animated Movie for her role in "The Smurfs."

A Host With Big Willie Style
Nickelodeon hit the jackpot of high-profile celeb hosts in landing Will Smith for their master of ceremonies this year. Although he's one of the biggest stars around, it's been awhile since we've seen the former Fresh Prince. We've seen a lot of his son Jaden and daughter Willow, who are becoming big stars in their own right, but we are psyched to see what Smith has planned as host. Will he be joined onstage by his kids? Will he incorporate a few of his famous friends into the act, like Tom Cruise? Will we get a sneak peek at new footage from the upcoming "Men in Black III"? We'll have to wait and see.

One Direction Break Hearts Stateside
The cute and charming lads of "it" boy band One Direction will no doubt bring the house down with whatever they perform on the show. A word of advice to the lucky folks attending the show: Think about bringing earplugs to protect yourself from the enthusiastic, high-pitched screams that will take over the Galen Center the instant the British pop group takes the stage. And they're not taking the opportunity lightly. "Kids' Choice is the biggest night on Nickelodeon," Niall Horan told MTV News about the magnitude of their appearance on the show. "All the big stars are going to be there, and when we found out it was just us and Katy Perry performing, we were like, 'Geez, this is a big deal.' "

An Appearance By a First Lady
Talk about upping the style and class factor! The fact that the very well-respected FLOTUS will be on hand to present Taylor Swift with an award is a really big deal. Michelle Obama will honor Swift with the Big Help Award, in recognition of her philanthropic efforts, including work with U.S. tornado and flood survivors. Obama herself was the recipient of the award in 2010, in recognition of her Let's Move! Campaign, which champions healthier lifestyles for kids. And, as if that weren't enough to establish her Nick cred, earlier this year, Obama also appeared on a special episode of "iCarly" to promote her Joining Forces initiative to support military families.

Who Will Get Slimed?
On to the most intriguing and entertaining part of the annual awards show: Who will get slimed? Despite the sticky, icky and total-mess factor that is involved with being covered from head to toe in the network's trademark green slime, it is considered an honor to get hit with the goo, which is said to be a mixture of green Jell-O, shampoo, oatmeal and flour. The illustrious list of previously slimed celebs includes: Katy Perry, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Justin Timberlake, the Jonas Brothers, Jackson Rathbone and Russell Brand. So who's going down this year? Traditionally, the host is a prime target toward the end of the show, so we can probably count on seeing Smith covered in green, but who else? Maybe Perry or one of the presenters — Chris Rock, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Zac Efron, Victoria Justice, Big Time Rush or Cee Lo Green.

Don't miss the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon.

Lindsay Lohan Completes Probation

Judge tells troubled actress, 'stop nightclubbing and focus on your work.'
By Gil Kaufman

Lindsay Lohan got some good news on Thursday when she appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court and a judge formally ended her lengthy supervised probation from two 2007 DUI arrests. Wearing a powder blue pants suit, the troubled actress earned praise for completing her court-mandated counseling sessions and 480 hours of community service.

According to the Los Angeles Times, at the final probation status check in for Lohan in connection with a shoplifting conviction and probation violations from the 2007 arrests, Judge Stephanie Sautner said Lohan had finished her obligations for counseling and community service in "short of a year and she has done everything this court asked her to do."

The actress completed the final counseling sessions and community service work at the Los Angeles County morgue earlier this week. Sautner then announced that the five years of probation for the DUI case were officially over and that she was putting Lohan on unsupervised probation for the shoplifting incident until May 2014.

"The only terms for you are for you to obey all laws," Sautner said.

"You don't need to come to court anymore." In addition to countless court appearances, Lohan has been jailed several times
for violations stemming from drug use to failing to do her required community service.

Clearly pleased, Lohan, 25, told the judge, "I just wanted to thank you for being fair. What you've done has really opened a lot of doors for me."

Lohan has been working on getting her career back on track, recently appearing in an episode of "Saturday Night Live",
 booking a "Glee" gig
and signing up to play Elizabeth Taylor
 in a TV movie.

But, before the hearing ended, Sautner had one more piece of advice for Lohan. "Stop nightclubbing and focus on your work," she counseled.

Ryan Tedder Finds His 'Calling' With Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso

Team-ups with Tommy Trash and Steve Angello and solo originals will follow Miami Music Week favorite 'Calling (Lose My Mind).'
By Akshay Bhansali

"Calling (Lose My Mind)" — the vocal version of "Calling" by rising star Alesso and Swedish House Mafia's Sebastian Ingrosso — was released weeks before Miami Music Week and has become one of the most popular anthems from the annual EDM get-together in Florida.

It serves as a prelude to a collection of new material fans can expect soon courtesy of the Swedish gents. What makes "Calling (Lose My Mind)" extra special is the addition of an A-list vocal by songwriter to the stars and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder. Tedder wrote and sent over a hook intended for another artist to sing, but what Seb and Alesso heard was too good to replace.

Ingrosso leaned on his friends in the business to arrange some one-on-one Tedder time.

"I called a friend of mine who works for Interscope, Dave Rene," Sebastian told MTV News. "He is Mr. Magic when it comes to those kinds of things. I'm like, 'It's going to be a long shot. Do you think that Ryan Tedder could do it?' We sent the track. [Ryan] was like, 'OK. I have 45 minutes in between the American Music Awards.' We ran to the studio, because I live around the corner. Boom. Recorded. Boom. Done."

Having arguably the most sought-after songwriter in the business — Tedder has worked with Beyoncé, B.o.B and Kelly Clarkson, to name just a few — has proven quite successful. This week, the song sits at #2 on Beatport's top 10.

"Ryan Tedder has that voice that everybody likes," Sebastian continued. "You can have his voice in your home, and he's a very nice guy. I think he's one of the most talented songwriters in the world. He does stuff for Adele, so for us, it's a huge honor even to be working with him."

The release of Alesso's next single, the melodious and summery "Years" (Interscope artist Matthew Koma is on the vocal version) is on the way, as well as a banger cut from the cloth of his more sinister hit from last year, "Nillionaire." "He hasn't named it yet," Seb revealed. "I'm dying to release it. I play it all the time. It's one of my favorite tracks at the moment. It's really edgy."

Fans can also expect a Sebastian Ingrosso collab with Tommy Trash, a new solo original, and an Alesso, Steve Angello and Seb team-up on "Why Am I Doing This?" all dropping in the coming months.

'Anchorman 2': The Legend Of Ron Burgundy's Return

MTV News brings you a timeline of all the obstacles that once stood in the way of the now-greenlit sequel.
By Fallon Prinzivalli

Will Ferrell in "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy"
Photo: DreamWorks Pictures

Movie fans were overjoyed by Will Ferrell's announcement Wednesday night that "Anchorman 2" is finally happening.

The long journey since the release of the first film left us doubting whether a sequel would ever happen. With our doubts cast aside and our excitement on the rise, we've compiled a timeline of all the obstacles the team overcame to arrive at the ultimate destination.

August 14, 2008: Paul Rudd tells us he thinks "Anchorman" director Adam McKay and actor Will Ferrell were interested in doing a sequel. "Last I heard they were starting to write ['Anchorman 2']," Rudd says. The setting? Possibly the '80s or the moon.

May 27, 2009: Ferrell tells Aussie radio DJs Jono & Dana that he'll be meeting with the "Anchorman" creators to "figure out when and how" to get a sequel in the works.

August 28, 2009: In an interview with Empire magazine, "Anchorman" producer Judd Apatow suggests that in "Anchorman 2," Ron Burgundy, Brick Tamland and Brian Fantana will return as elderly men. "Those anchormen sometimes have their jobs until they're 75 years old," Apatow says.

September 1, 2009: Director McKay says that, due to the cast and crew's busy schedules, the sequel won't be available for another two years. He adds, "But we are definitely doing it." Whew.

April 6, 2010: Steve Carell confirms to our very own Josh Horowitz that the "Anchorman" cast "want[s] to do another one," but there is no script. "I don't think they've [even] decided on a story line yet," Carell says.

April 8, 2010: On the red carpet for his movie "Date Night," Carell lies about everything. He says "Anchorman 2" has already been shot in "just two days" while the cast was drunk. When asked if it was any good he says, "It's fantastic!" Honestly, with the talent in these comedians, we wouldn't be surprised if it was.

April 27, 2010: Adam McKay reveals that, aside from the actor's schedules, another holdup in the sequel is payment. Since the cast went on to become even more famous after the first movie, "Everybody's prices went up." Graciously, the cast agreed to take a pay cut, which is almost unheard of in Hollywood.

April 29, 2010: McKay dashes all our hopes and dreams in a single tweet: "So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried."

May 3, 2010: Hope is restored! As it turns out, Paramount is eager to film the sequel. Deadline reports, however, the "Anchorman" team is forced to regroup as they have a budget gap of $30 million to overcome.

June 6, 2010: With financial issues in the way, Paul Rudd jokes that if "Anchorman 2" doesn't happen, "We'll look to do 'Anchorman 3.' "

July 19, 2010: Yet again, it seems as if "Anchorman 2" is never going to happen. The saddest part? Neither is the proposed "Anchorman" musical. A few days later, Christina Applegate says she feels let down by the news.

May 2, 2011: All hope is officially lost when Ferrell tells Collider that the sequel "is a brick wall right now" and they're "playing around with the idea" of a "Step Brothers" sequel instead.

And suddenly...

March 28, 2012: Ferrell announces on "Conan" that "Anchorman 2" is officially happening with the original director, Adam McKay, and most of the principal castmembers, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. The stars have aligned. It's finally happening. Cue celebration!

Ryan Tedder Finds His 'Calling' With Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso

Team-ups with Tommy Trash and Steve Angello and solo originals will follow Miami Music Week favorite 'Calling (Lose My Mind).'

'Survivor: One World' Contestant Accused Of 'Poop Pants'

Sushi chef Jonas takes a hike, while elder statesman Tarzan continues to go off the deep end on this week's episode.
By Josh Wigler

Tarzan in "Survivor: One World"
Photo: CBS

Tarzan is not only king of the jungle — he's also king of the "poop pants." He certainly wouldn't own that title, but his companions on newly merged tribe Tikiano know better, having seen the 64-year-old plastic surgeon's dirty underwear up close, personal and in their precious pot of boiling water. Nasty.

But the eccentric Tarzan's filthy habits weren't filthy enough to buy him a one-way ticket out of "Survivor: One World" this week. Instead, it was sushi chef Jonas who became the latest contestant voted out of the game, not because of any personal flaws — indeed, it was widely agreed upon that his skills as a cook were a great asset to the tribe — but because he was the biggest threat to win the game outside of the dominant alliance. Ultimately, Jonas' strengths became his fatal weakness.

Once again, we speak with two-time "Survivor" contestant Rob Cesternino about this week's episode, covering Tarzan's so-called "poop pants," Jonas' untimely demise and life after Colton Cumbie.

MTV: I really liked Jonas from the very beginning of the season; I thought he had potential to go deep into the game. I'm not sure now if Jonas was a good player with bad luck, or maybe he just wasn't a good player to begin with.

Rob Cesternino: Can't it be both? I mean, through most of the season, Jonas was just playing second fiddle to Colton. He said it himself: "I don't mind being Colton's bitch." Unfortunately, when Colton was out of the picture, it looked like Jonas was going to emerge and make a run of this thing. But there's not much he could have done. He was down in the numbers. He couldn't mount an effective strategy here with that being the case.

MTV: At this point in the merge, there are 12 people on the tribe. It's as good a time as any to get a big threat like Jonas off the field. But it also strikes me as a time where you can cut some of the dead weight, like Tarzan, from the tribe. Do you think the right choice was made: getting rid of the likable guy — who's an excellent chef to boot — over the annoying crazy person?

Cesternino: Absolutely. You want to get rid of the capable person because Jonas can win the game. Ideally, you want to grab Tarzan and do whatever you can to get him to the end of the game with you, just like a few seasons ago [on "Survivor: Redemption Island"] when Boston Rob took Phillip to the end with him. Jonas had a good chance to win, of everybody currently playing the game. I know it stinks for Jonas that he gets voted out, because now it looks like he's not as good at the game as some of the people who are still there, but that's not the case. You get rid of the people who are the threats to win, whenever you can, and you keep around the dead weight.

MTV: Tarzan really is one of those perfect final three candidates: He has zero chance of winning, at least in my eyes. But the alliance he's in is so thin at this point — if you can even call it an alliance — and the majority group in this tribe doesn't seem to have much interest in pulling him along for the ride. Of all the people playing the game, who do you think is the likeliest person to wake up and smell the coffee and decide to bring Tarzan to the end?

Cesternino: That person for me is Troyzan. He's with these women, and at some point, the lightbulb should go off: "I'm voting with these Salani women right now, but at some point, it's going to come down to them trying to get rid of me and Jay." I think Troyzan might be the guy who says, "Oh my god, Tarzan is getting on everybody's nerves, he's putting dirty underwear in everybody's water. This is the guy I need to go to the finals with."

MTV: It was a big week for Troyzan. He found an immunity idol, he won an immunity idol ...

Cesternino: Not only did he win individual immunity and find an idol, he also went on a reward! This is his island! He didn't get any of his underwear in the same pot of water with Tarzan, either. It was all on the up and up for Troyzan this week. [Laughs] I've liked him for a while on this show. I think he's starting to emerge as a guy who could go the distance. But it's really important for him to not just go to the finals with the status quo. He needs to make a move and switch things up. I did some math on this last night, and long story short, I think there are five women who are going to vote together until the end — the younger girls with the alliance from the beginning — and there are six people left who are not in that alliance, the five men plus Christina. With 11 people left in the game, I think this upcoming episode is the one where Troyzan needs to make a move.

MTV: It's interesting. The Salani alliance seemed solid for a while, but already in this episode, you see cracks beginning to form. Do you think these new alliances are going to stick, or do you think we'll be back to men versus women before too long?

Cesternino: You know, I kind of feel they're going to stay tight for a while. I still kind of think Salani is going to go after Tarzan, and go after Leif, and then start to turn and take out a Michael. I think that's going to be what happens. But I'm hoping that's not what happens.

MTV: Yeah, that becomes the Kim and Chelsea show pretty quickly.

Cesternino: Yeah, it does. I'm hoping for whatever can happen to keep my man Tarzan in the game. I mean, what a night for Tarzan! Really, the whole last 20 minutes was the Tarzan show. I don't want to hear that this is strategy that he's doing, because he's just so perfect. What a great job by casting, finding this guy. I'm loving Tarzan. I'm thinking of plastic-surgery operations to get so that I can meet Tarzan in person.

MTV: Oh, man. [Laughs] I don't know that you want to trust yourself in that guy's hands, no matter how many degrees and licenses he has ...

Cesternino: Well, he's apparently an expert in microbes. [Laughs] I'm not concerned. I'll get on the operating table and let Tarzan open me up anytime. He has entertained me so much this season.

MTV: This was week one post-Colton. How do you feel about "Survivor: One World" without Colton?

Cesternino: I wasn't really missing Colton too much last night. There was so much going on with Jonas and Tarzan fighting, with Tarzan's "poop-gate," so it wasn't too bad of a first show without Colton. I think if we start getting rid of the big personalities like Tarzan, that's when you'll miss Colton as a viewer.

Nas Says Ugly Divorce From Kelis Proves 'Love Is A Beast'

'No one's exempt from people probing into your life once you get into the game,' Nasty Nas tells 'RapFix Live.'
By Rebecca Thomas, with reporting by Sway Calloway

They were rap's royal couple. Nas and Kelis jumped the broom in 2005 after a courtship that included video cameos and public declarations of love.

But the split between the rap legend and his R&B wife four years later was just as public and all too ugly. As the expectant "Milkshake" singer accused her husband of abandoning her mid-pregnancy in legal filings, allegations of infidelity burned up the blogs.

‪ Things got "crazy," the pride of Queensbridge, New York, said on Wednesday's "RapFix Live." The divorce thrust Nas into the New York tabloids, where he was alternately painted as the victim of a gold-digging star and a cheater who callously hid the ATM cards with a baby on the way. Having stayed mostly mum over the years, Nas was ready to tell Sway his side.

‪"Life is crazy," the famously private MC said. "I [wound] up paying more money to baby mommas than what some of my rap brothers and sistren make."

‪At the time, several outlets reported that Kelis was seeking about $45,000 a month in child and spousal support from the father of two, daughter Destiny from a previous relationship and son Knight with the "Bossy" singer. The figure was formally reduced last year by a court to a $25,000 month, but the scrutiny left Nas scarred.

"I've always been away from too much limelight and that right there put me in your — no one's exempt from people probing into your life once you get into the game," he conceded. "So [the divorce] put a lot of my business out there, man. People weren't thinking I was making that kind of money, and now they knew."

The handsome single rapper — a record number of MTV's female staffers suddenly turned up on set this week — paused to reflect on what advice he'd give to a newly engaged couple. He looked away, the "God's Son" tattoo on his neck visible for a split second, before responding.

‪"Man, if you're happy," he sighed and then paused again. "Love is a beast. Hold on, be prepared for any way it may go, and be honest." ‪ Nas' tax woes have also made the front page, but he declined to discuss the topic, promising instead to confront it on Life Is Good.

Of course, it's been more than four years since Nasty Nas dropped a solo full-length. And the multiplatinum lyrical legend has teased fans with spotty output. Still, the 39-year-old has impressed with recent features like Rick Ross' "Triple Beam Dreams" and tracks like this month's dancehall-flavored "The Don," which managed to slay rap purists and trend on Twitter.

But more important, these were signals that a release might be in the offing. All this anticipation for a rapper who was just out of his teens when he dropped his seminal debut, Illmatic, back in 1994. We'd say life is pretty good for Nas.

'American Idol': Who Didn't Get A Standing O?

Five contestants brought the judges to their feet on a night Steven Tyler called 'a magical mystery tour of over-the-top talent and emotion.'
By Adam Graham

The Idols took on songs by their own personal idols on Wednesday (March 28), and time and again they brought the judges to their feet.

Five singers — more than half the field — earned standing ovations from the judges, and if that isn't technically a record, it certainly felt like one. And while several contestants surged forward — most notably Colton Dixon, whom Randy Jackson dubbed "a contender for the title" for the first time — it was Heejun Han who seized the opportunity to wipe the slate clean after last week's flub and realign himself in the "Idol" ranks.

The night kicked off in an odd fashion, with host Ryan Seacrest telling the contestants, "Hunger Games"-style, "may the odds be ever in your favor." And from there it was a veritable bloodbath, with each contestant giving their all and making the "Idol" landscape as difficult to survey as ever.

Han, who was criticized last week for not taking the show seriously following his goofball performance of Billy Joel's "My Life," dialed himself way down Wednesday and gave a straightforward reading of Donny Hathaway's "A Song For You." The result: a standing O, along with praise from the judges who felt he was finally done mocking the proceedings.

"You did it man, you turned it around," Steven Tyler told him, while Jennifer Lopez backed his performance and dispelled any notion he was a fluke contestant by telling him, "You don't make it this far by mistake." Jackson agreed the performance represented a major turnaround for Han. "Finally the Heejun that we selected came back to us tonight," the Dawg said. "Welcome back."

Also bringing the judges to their feet were Joshua Ledet (singing Mariah Carey's version of "Without You"), Phillip Phillips (taking on Johnny Lang's "Still Raining"), DeAndre Brackensick (doing Eric Benet's "Sometimes I Cry") and Elise Testone (who closed the show with Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love"). The praise was flying around so fast and furious it was almost hard to keep track of; at show's close, Tyler called the evening "a magical mystery tour of over-the-top talent and emotion." (We're not 100 percent sure what that means, but we're pretty sure it's good.)

Ledet's performance was perhaps the evening's most emotional; afterward, Lopez told the Louisiana native, "you're a phenom, you are an absolute angel from Heaven!" Phillips, meanwhile, was told he "owned" his performance of "Still Raining." "You've got big things in front of you," Jackson told him.

Testone wasn't the first "Idol" to take on "Whole Lotta Love"; Adam Lambert memorably upped the song's sexual mojo back in Season 8. Her version didn't have Lambert's same oomph, but Tyler told her, "You made Robert Plant proud tonight" while Lopez said, "that was some real rock star stuff."

Brackensick, meanwhile, earned comparisons to Prince for the high falsetto he delivered while singing "Sometimes I Cry." "You gave Prince a run for his money, man," Tyler told him, while Jackson gave him one of his customary "DeAndre's back in the house!" declarations. Lopez pleaded with America to vote for the curly-haired singer. "People, pick up your phones and vote for DeAndre!" she said. "Please, I need to hear this voice some more!"

Though he didn't get a standing O, Dixon opened the show with Lifehouse's "Everything" and was called "a dream come true" by Tyler. "You sing a song like it should be sung. You make it bleed, you have perfect pitch, and you've got star quality." And with Jackson officially welcoming him into the potential winner's circle, the playing field was again shifted.

Jessica Sanchez, another of the field's leaders, slowed down Beyoncé's "Sweet Dreams" and presented it in more of a ballad fashion. Tyler called it "delicious" and Jackson told Dixon to watch his back because "this girl wants it too!"

Skylar Laine unpacked her shotgun and gave Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder & Lead" a run through the mud, which was right smack dab in her zone. Tyler called it "over the top" — he meant it as a compliment — and J. Lo applauded the energy in her performance.

Hollie Cavanagh was the only contestant to receive mixed marks from the judges; her version of Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel" was dubbed "just OK" by Tyler while Jackson told her it "wasn't perfect," and on a night when the judges couldn't stop springing to their feet, that was as close to criticism as things got.

Thursday's "Idol" -— during which one of the singers faces elimination — is set to feature performances by Nicki Minaj and last year's "Idol" champ, Scotty McCreery.

What did you think of Wednesday's "Idol?" Let us know in the comments!

'Titanic' Looks 'Spectacular' In 3-D, James Cameron Says

Film's 3-D conversion 'takes it to a whole different level,' director tells MTV News at U.K. premiere of re-release.

Nearly 15 years after "Titanic" became the biggest movie ever to grace the silver screen, director James Cameron has expanded his blockbuster into the third dimension.

On April 4, "Titanic" sets sail in 3-D after a painstaking conversion that Cameron believes enhances the picture's overall effect. MTV News spoke with the director in London, on the red carpet for the U.K. premiere of the re-release, which hits theaters days before the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking.

"It's really a dream come true to get this film back into cinema because it just has a whole different effect on people when they take three hours out of their life to just sit and have the unbroken experience and let the story take them along," Cameron said. "It can be quite a profoundly emotional experience, and you're not going to get that watching it on video. The 3-D just enhances the whole thing. It takes it to a whole different level. "

Cameron decided to begin the process in 2005, while he was prepping his next ambitious project, "Avatar."

"I was pretty convinced at that time that 3-D was really going to transform the cinema experience. I wanted cinema owners, the exhibitors, to embrace the conversion to digital projection, so that there'd be a place to show 3-D movies," Cameron said. "I was thinking of 'Avatar,' but I was also saying, 'Look, we can do films like "Titanic." We can take "Jaws," "Star Wars," whatever your favorite movies are, we can convert them to 3-D and give them a whole new life.' So we started doing test to see what a conversion of 'Titanic' would look like. We did a minute and a half of it, and it looked spectacular. "

The 3-D re-release offered Cameron the opportunity to reflect on what made "Titanic" a worldwide sensation. Cameron said he feels that it didn't have everything to do with the movie's young star Leonardo DiCaprio.

"Women could relate to it, not just because of the Leo-mania thing, but because a lot of young women struggle with the sense of identity in societal expectation. The character of Rose was really written very much about those ideas," Cameron said. "I think it was a simplification after the fact that [DiCaprio] is why women were so attracted to the movie."
